Happy Mother's Day to all of our amazing Columbia moms! Thank you for all that you do on a daily basis for your families! This weekend, I was thinking about some of the special things my mom use to do for me and my 3 siblings when we were kids. One of the memories I have is my mom reading picture books to us before our bedtime. A little while ago, I came across a YouTube video that made me laugh out loud that brought back a memory of one of my very 1st favourite books. It was called, The Monster at the end of this Book, by Jon Stone (Author) and Michael Smollin (Illustrator) and was from a collection of books called, "Little Golden Books." Those books were read over and over again in our family and most likely passed on to another family. I also have memories of watching Sesame Street on TV with my mom after my older siblings went to school and we'd laugh at some of the funny characters like: Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Oscar the Grouch, Grover, Elmo and Cookie Monster!! I think Cookie Monster was my favourite character of all! Watch the funny YouTube video of "Cookie Monster in the Library." LOL! :)
The staff at Columbia wanted students and families to know that we care about all of you! A “Columbia Cares Parade” was organized and staff drove through the neighbourhoods of Columbia Elementary. We weren’t able to go to every street; however, teachers, EAs, and Admin were so grateful and happy to see many smiling faces and beautiful signs and posters!! Thank you to our amazing students and families!! ❤️ |
